In 2000, after Renault bought a struggling Nissan Motor Company, some clever marketer came up with the slogan - Shift_the_future. People looked at this and thought "What?". Now, netbyte.com is able to use the same tagline to describe the latest revision of the Nissan New Zealand website.
Although it may not look very different from the previous version, the new Nissan website is a ground up rebuild, ditching all the Flash that for some years had seemingly been critical to its success. With the advent of iPad and other devices that either don't support Flash or only support a very limited Flash implementation, it had become imperative to support this new class of website user, and at the same time, both Adobe and Microsoft declared that there would be no future development on their respective Flash and Silverlight platforms.
What Netbyte has created is a single source of content with optimised delivery strategies for desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Unified access to information about the model range, contact details for the dealerships, press articles about the cars, forms to request test drives and service bookings. in the near future there will be interaction with the site using QR codes (also called 2D barcodes) as more and more smart devices are able to decode these simple squares of information and drive customers to information on the website.
