15 years of Netbyte

The Netbyte story is now 15 years long and rich with a history that goes with being in business for that length of time. We rode the first wave of the internet phenomonen in the latter half of the 1990's, survived the dot.com crash and burn in the early years of the new millenium and are stronger today than we have ever been, providing web-based core applications and intricate websites to a diverse range of clients, from small to medium privately held businesses, to large global corporates.

It takes a lot to be in business for 15 years, let alone in the web business for that length of time, and we do so with great people and great clients. Most of our clients we have retained for more than 10 years and continue to develop and grow with them. As a specialist Java applications and PHP web development company, we consider ourselves to be the competition - and we can back this up with 15 years experience.

Netbyte is still owned and run by its founder, Scott Wilson, the original "Webguy". Leading the company with a vision for a world that we are fast approaching - a fully integrated internet existence, where the internet is everywhere we are and everywhere we go. The rise of mobile broadband, the truly smartphone, Web 2.0 and the social media, tablet computing and internet TV is closing the loop on this ubiquitous notion, the stuff that movies were made of only 10 years ago is here now or has been surpassed by ideas that not even Hollywood screen writers could come up with.

Our challenge now is usability - kids today don't know of a world without the internet, let alone computers. And just try getting people to read instruction manuals! Users don't care what language an application is written, as long as it is fast, friendly and provides the tools they need, it is a success; and this is nowhere more true than on the internet. There is no distinction between Apple and Microsoft as far as Google or Facebook are concerned - and now with the rise of mobile operating systems like Apple's iOS and Google's Android, there is a huge shift towards applications that access web-based services with interfaces that are tuned for touch-screen hardware. Add to this the meteoric rise of video on the web and you find the place where Netbyte develops now - from the backoffice, to the browser-based frontend, to the highly tailored and mobile touch screen interface. We are racing towards the anytime, anywhere paradigm that we saw 15 years ago at our inception.
